GREEN ARROW: While trapped on a desert island, wealthy playboy Oliver Queen developed his archery skill to an enhanced level in order to survive. Once he returned to civilation, Queen used his wealth to fund his crime-fighting career as the Green Arrow. After losing his fortune, Queen became a champion for the downtrodden and destitute and sacrificed his life to stop a plane that was going to destroy Metropolis. Later, thanks to the Spectre, Queen was resurrected and discovered a new life.
GREEN ARROW: The illegitimate son of Oliver Queen, Connor Hawke was raished in an ashram. When he met Queen, Connor helped Queen to regain a semblence of inner peace and Connor followed Queen on his travels. Eventually, the two discovered they were father and son and unable to deal with the revelation, Queen left. After Queen's death, Connor followed in his footsteps and became the second Green Arrow, even serving a stint with the JLA. Now that his father has been resurrected, the two have established a relationship.
BLACK CANARY: The daughter of the original Black Canary, Dinah Lance followed in her mother's footsteps as the second Black Canary. Armed with a sonic scream she dubs the "Canary Cry," Dinah was a founding member of the JLA, where she met and fell in love with Oliver Queen. The two have had an on and off relationship for years, which has resumed since Ollie's resurrection. Now, Dinah spends most of her time aiding Oracle's Birds of Prey.
ARSENAL: When Roy Harper was a child, his father, a forest ranger, died in a forest fire. Taken in and raised by a Navajo shaman his father had saved, Roy grew up with few friends and idolized Green Arrow. At an archery contest, he impressed Ollie with his archery skills and after helping him apprehend some criminals, was asked by Ollie to be his partner, Speedy. After a stint with heroin addiction, Roy cleaned up and became the hero known as Arsenal. A former member of the now-disbanded Titans, Arsenal now assists his mentor in Star City.
SPEEDY: After being abused by her father, teenaged Mia Dearden ran away and ended up turning to a life of prostitution. She was rescued from this profession by Oliver Queen, who had recently been resurrected. Under Ollie's tutelage, Mia began to train as an archer and constantly tried to convince Ollie to let her become his sidekick. At first, Ollie refused, until Mia discovered she was HIV-positive. This knowledge caused her to redouble her efforts and Ollie finally decided to grant her this wish, allowing her to become the new Speedy.
