If you're a new reader to DC Omega, you probably have some questions about the group even after going through some of the series and the continuity. This page serves as a place where you can find answers to the questions most frequently asked by people who are new to the site or interested in checking it out.
1) What's DC Omega all about?
DC Omega is a fan fiction group dedicated to the DC Comics universe. Our series are set in the regular DCcontinuity, cutting off from it around the time of the Identity Crisis limited series.
2) What's the group's relation to Marvel Omega?
Marvel Omega is DC Omega's sister site. With Marvel Omega having gained a reputation for producing high-quality Marvel fanfic, we felt it was time we continued with that tradition and branch off into DC. For more information on Marvel Omega, visit them at http://marvel.rlk7.com.
3) What's the deal with the Wildstorm and Vertigo imprints?
Most DC fanfic sites only focus on the mainstream DC Universe. We felt we should follow the example of DC Comics by having imprints for both Vertigo and Wildstorm.
4) Are there plans for other imprints like DC has, like Johnny DC or CMX?
Not at the moment, no.
5) I'm confused, are the Vertigo titles in continuity with the regular DCU titles?
Yes and no. Some Vertigo books, such as Doom Patrol, Hellblazer, and Swamp Thing, for example, would all be set within the mainstream DCU. Titles such as Jonah Hex as well as creator-owned titles like Onyx Revolver are not.
6) Are the Wildstorm titles in the same continuity with the DCU books?
No, Wildstorm is a universe completely separate from the DCU.
7) So what's the Wildstorm cut-off?
Wildcats picks up six months after the end of Wildcats Version 3.0. However, here at DC Omega, the Coup De'tat storyline is not considered to be in continuity.
9) How come some events in the titles don't seem to match up with what was happening in the comics at the time of Identity Crisis?
That's because our cut-off is more of a guideline than a hard and fast rule. We're more concerned about quality as opposed to matching up perfectly with continuity. So, at the discretion of the writers, some things have been changed.
10) What's the story with JSA?
It was the decision of the writers who launched the title (Steve Crosby and Brent Lambert) to start off JSA from scratch and basically retcon DC's current JSA series. Any problems this may have caused will be addressed as they arise.
11) I'm interested in writing for DC Omega. How do I submit a proposal?
Check out the Submissions page, it'll tell you everything you need to do.
12) How come I can't seem to find a dibs list?
DCO has decided to try something different. The staff discussed the matter and decided to abolish the dibs list to see if a site can truly function without one. The hope is that the lack of a dibs list will foster better relations between writers by encouraging them to communicate with each other in planning stories.
